"One man cannot do right in one department of life whilst he is occupied in doing wrong in any other department. Life is one indivisible whole"
-Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi was a man who took matters into his own hands and in his own way which was peaceful and yet effective. He was an advocate for the rights of Indians in South Africa and in his own home country. At the time, Africa and India were under the rule of Britain. Discrimination against Indian people was the cause of their rights being taken away. He organized boycotts against the British. We naturally relate boycotting as a rebellious act, and most rebellious acts are connected to being violent. This was not the case for Mahatma Gandhi. He made sure that this was never the case. Gandhi believed that rebellion through violence would be less beneficial, in his opinion, you would lose the respect of the man you are going against; for respect is what you need to win them over, and only then will they believe you are one in the same. Gandhi was a man of honor, a man of respect, and a man of peace. Many saw him as a major political and spiritual leader of his time. He made it his responsibility to fight for the rights of his people. His legacy will forever influence our world.
